If you’re in or around New Castle, Indiana, come out to see Bastion and Cooper play a short acoustic set at a block party outside of Imagine Music tomorrow at 1:00pm!  The event is set up to benefit local charities (like God’s Grain Bin) and local businesses.

Bastion:

Milo and I went t0 a hotel last weekend but forgot to bring a bottle opener so I improvised with a door frame:

P.S.  Those of you who follow my Twitter and Facebook know I’m a big fan of eating big things.  I ordered a sandwich from JBolts, a local deli here in New Castle, Indiana which I’d call the shop’s flagship sub, but it’s more like an entire fleet!  Here are two funny pictures of me trying to bring the giant down:

It’s Friday again and the band is back with more news and thoughts! Don’t forget, Bastion will be making two acoustic appearances this weekend (but we’ll let him tell you about them)!

Bastion:

If you’ve haven’t read Parts 1 and 2 of my back surgery adventure, then let me say, in short, that things haven’t been easy lately. Nevertheless, I had a pre-spine-surgery procedure done on Wednesday which has put me in a position where I can rock a little (even though the medications I’m on prevent me from doing a lot of things, they tend to share a friendly history with rock and roll). Be sure to come see me this weekend at the following shows:

Tonight at The House (1401 Walnut St., New Castle, IN) with Area Revolt, The Goodnight Fields, Forever Flux, and The Plan. All ages welcome, admission is $7 at the door. I’ve never played at The House or with any of the other bands on the ticket so come explore with me. 6:30-10:30pm. I’ll take the stage at about 9.

Saturday (tomorrow) at the Guyer Opera House, where Val Temples has organized a Valentine’s Day event to raise money for Reader’s Theater’s telling of several Dr. Seuss stories. You know I support the reading of Dr. Seuss, and fortunately I’ve written plenty of love songs so grab a date and come support local theater (and have a good time while you’re at it). $20 per couple. 7:30-9:30pm.

Cooper:

“Star Wars: Episode One comes out in 3D tonight. This is the movie in the saga that everybody [especially me – Bastion] loves to hate. However, this movie holds a very special place in my heart. This was the first Star Wars film I was able to see on the silver screen. I’ll always love this movie if for no other reason than that first magical time I heard the 20th Century Fox drumroll and fanfare lead me into those blue words etched into any self respecting moviegoer’s mind. I highly recommend the experience. However, as a loather of 3D, I’ll be seeing the films in 2D. And I hope you’ll join me!

This busted back.

As many of you know from my Facebook page, a disc fragment has burst from my spine and is harassing my sciatic nerve.  Unfortunately, this is going to require surgery–I’ll meet with my surgeon on Tuesday–so wish me luck.  In the mean time, we’ve had to cancel the acoustic show which was scheduled for yesterday and we’ll be holding off on scheduling new concerts until we’ve got a better idea of my recovery time.

Running out of the old, running in with the new.

On the up-side, the @LIVE 2012 t-shirts are selling much faster than we expected and now only a few remain!  Rather than waiting around for them all to dry up, we’re moving on to the next design.  The fans of GRACE@ARMS’ Facebook page have voted for 3/4 sleeve baseball t-shirts and so I’ve gone to work designing them:

The second ALIVE 2012 (@LIVE 2012) t-shirt from Grace at Arms (GRACE@ARMS). This shirt was designed by Bastion Crider, February 2012. All art, logos, and "I CAME HERE TO ROCK" are copyright 2012 by Bastion Crider, Greg Crider LLC, and Grace at Arms.
You can’t see it here, but the shirts also bare GRACE@ARMS and @LIVE 2012 logos in white on the sleeves. Umm… badass.

The shirts are made by American Apparel and printed by ContagiousGraphics.com so they’re of the same exceptionally high quality you’ve come to expect in GRACE@ARMS apparel.  Because of the design and art on the sleeves, these shirts are a little more expensive than the plain t-shirts we previously released and will retail for $23.

Pre-orders (aka “the cheap, fast, guaranteed way to get a shirt”)!

We’re opening the pre-order for these shirts today at our @LIVE 2012 page.  For a limited time, you’ll be able to pre-order one of the new baseball t-shirts for $18.  When they arrive, you’ll be able to pick your shirt up from me or at one of our shows.  The pre-order is how the band affords the actual shirt order, so the size of the order will be directly proportionate to the number of pre-orders.  This also means that the only way you’re guaranteed to get a shirt is to pre-order one!

It’s Friday so it’s time for another From the Band Friday!  Here’s what the boys from GRACE@ARMS have to say!

Bastion:

Our friend, John (of Swagtree Productions), came to our concert last Friday (which rocked–big thanks to all our fans who showed up) and filmed us playing some songs!  We’re refining the video footage now, but in the mean time, here are a few video captures I managed to pull from the footage!

Milo:

With another awesome experience playing at Birdy’s under our belts, 2012 is off to an excellent start!  It was great seeing all of you.  Your feedback has been appreciated.  We take this information into consideration when preparing our upcoming set lists.  Contact us via Google+, Facebook, Twitter, etc. with your comments!

Cooper:

Sometimes you sit down to play a song and you come up with something entirely different.

It’s a big Friday for us!  We’ll be rocking the stage at Birdy’s Bar and Grill tonight for the first time since the six4six concert in August!  We’ll be playing at 10pm and Audiodacity will be playing at 11.  The cover is only $5 so come rock with us!  More information here.

If you can’t rock with us at Birdy’s tonight, then be sure to rock with us on YouTube and iTunes!

Here’s what the guys are saying:

Bastion:

The new @LIVE 2012 shirts are in and they came here to rock!  After distributing the pre-orders, we’ve only got a few remaining.  They’ll be available at tonight’s show and then any extras will become available to order at graceatarms.com/alive2012.  Enjoy and I hope to see you tonight!

Cooper:

I’m getting fired up and tuned up for the show tonight!  It will feel good to get back on a stage and kick out some jams.  I just have to survive a few more classes, quizzes, study sessions, and assignments between now and then!  And then after, as well.  Oh, well!  Let’s rock!

[This is a post from my original blog at graceatarms.com/bastion.  The concert will be this Friday at Birdy’s Bar and Grill.  $5 cover.  Must be 21.  Doors open at 8pm.  Music starts at 9pm.  Grace@Arms takes the stage at 10pm.  The headliner will be Audiodacity and the opening act will be Minute Details.  For more information on the show, click here.  For more information on our 2012 schedule and merchandise, click here. – Bastion]

It’s been a few months since we last rocked the stage at Birdy’s Bar and Grill in Indianapolis, and it’s definitely time to come back!  GRACE@ARMS is announcing new tour dates and Birdy’s is back on the schedule!

Soon, we’ll be launching @LIVE 2012, announcing tour dates, gear, and apparel (it’ll all be available and updated at graceatarms.com/alive2012), but for now, keep January 27, 2012 clear on your calendar so you can come see our first concert of the new year at Birdy’s with Audiodacity!

Just in case you missed us last time (or wanted to relive it), you can check out our performance of an unreleased song I wrote a while back called “Give Me A Sign” right here:

Feel free to click on the YouTube link (or just click here) to check out our YouTube channel for more music and videos or find us on iTunes here and Spotify here!  Start getting excited!  It’s time to rock!
